IOP Best Student Paper Award Criteria
The Best Student Paper Award, sponsored by the IOP Journal of Smart Materials and Structures
,consist of a Certificate and $ 250 dollars. A Committee of three members will review the submissions based on the following criteria:
1) The first author of the paper should be a student.
2) Since the Cansmart Workshop has a special format of presentations: oral or poster, either format of presentation will be considered for the Award.
(The oral presentation consists of a 20 minute presentation; while the poster presentation consists of 5 minutes of oral presentation and a displayed poster during the 2 days of the meeting. All the papers (oral and poster) have the same length and format and are included in the same fashion in the Proceedings).
3) The Committee will evaluate the general quality of the paper including a clear and concise description of the work, the clarity of the language, the organisation and completeness of the paper.

2008 IOP Best Paper Award Winner Jeanne-Louise Shih of McGill University for the paper Energy Harvesting Using Piezoelectric Thick Films Fabricated by a Sol-Gel Process receiving the award from Dr. Akhras.
