The Cansmart Group (CANSMART), Fraunhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing (IZFP) and the Canadian Institute for NDE (CINDE) invite authors and presenters to submit abstracts for the International Workshop on Smart Materials and Structures, SHM, and NDT for the Energy Industry to be held in conjunction with the NDT in Canada 2013 Conference.

CANSMART's objective is to promote the emerging technologies of smart materials and structures in Canada and the world. Special sessions featuring national and international speakers will address the current outlook for smart materials, smart structures and associated applications which include NDE and structural health monitoring.

The objective of the Fraunhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing (IZFP) and CINDE is to provide NDT practitioners and industry professionals an opportunity to share their knowledge about the advances in NDT pertaining to the Energy Industry including emerging techniques and trends for the oil and gas, petrochemical, nuclear, hydroelectric, solar, and wind turbine sectors. Other topics include the inspection of materials, testing of structures, and recent developments in NDT personnel training, education, and certification.

The program will include Exhibitors, Sponsors, a Career Zone and keynote lectures, authors / presenters and their associated papers. The Organizing Committee invites papers from academic researchers and industrial practitioners from Canada and the International Community to interact, network, and explore the potential of possible collaborations on presentations or projects of mutual interest.

  1. The first author of the paper should be a student.
  2. Since the Cansmart Workshop has a special format of presentations: oral or poster, either format of presentation will be considered for the Award.
(The oral presentation consists of a 20 minute presentation; while the poster presentation consists of 5 minutes of oral presentation and a displayed poster during the 2 days of the meeting. All the papers (oral and poster) have the same length and format and are included in the same fashion in the Proceedings).
